Viability- 26 Weeks

Most people never even think about viability. You likely have no idea what it means. But for someone who has been through what we have been through, viability is an important milestone.

Fetal viability is the ability of a fetus to survive outside the uterus.
At 26 weeks today, we have made it to viability. This by no means that Henley would survive if something went wrong and she had to be born today, but the statistics show that at this point she CAN, and likely would, survive on her own outside of my belly. We obviously continue to pray that she keeps growing steady and strong in my belly until 40 weeks, but reaching this milestone is just another blessing we get to count.

Henley's 2nd Shower!

I have looked forward to having a baby shower for so long. There were days, months, and even years where I thought we may never have a baby of our own, much less a baby shower. I really thought I would be able to keep it under control during the shower, but that didn't exactly happen. The second I walked in the front door and saw all the beautiful pink decorations, food, and gifts, tears started pouring down my face, and I started ugly-crying. Just for a minute though!! The only thing I could say was "gosh I hope it really is a girl!!" I'm so grateful to have wonderful neighbors, family, and friends come together to celebrate sweet Henley. I have two more showers at the end of September, and I so look forward them.

Henley's First Shower

My office throws a shower (excuse for a party!) twice a year for all the employees getting married and having babies. This time, we got to be a part of the celebration, along with 12 other couples, 7 of which were having babies! The party was hosted by our President and CEO at his home. The theme was "Sail-ebration." We got Henley's car seat, bouncer, and a Buy Buy Baby gift card! I'm so thankful to work with such generous people!
